David Amyrico Ortiz Arias, an American Dominican who was a designated hitter (DH) and first baseman in Major League Baseball, was born on November 18 1975. He played for the Boston Red Sox in the American League (AL). After six seasons playing with the Minnesota Twins, with no notable results, Ortiz was traded to the Red Sox. He played a key part in the team's 2004 World Series championship drought and won championships in 2007-2013. The team also awarded him the World Series Most Valuable Player. He averaged 41 runs scored and 128 RBI over the first five seasons of the team. Alongside winning championships in 2007 as well as 2013, Ortiz won the title of World Series Most Valuable Player in 2013.
