 A term derived from Latin vetus "old" The term "veteran" is someone with significant experience and is usually skilled and respected in an profession or field. Military veterans are a person who has retired from serving as a military.A military veteran that has served directly in combat in a war is further defined as a war vet (although there are exceptions to this rule or locations where armed combat took place are normally referred to as wars).Military veterans are special as a group as their experiences are strongly connected to the war's conduct in general and application of professional violence in particular. There is a lot of information available that has been accumulated over centuries through studies in the field of scholarly research.
