American actor and comedian Steven John Carell was born on August 16 1962. Carell played Michael Scott in The Office (2005–2011 The Office, 2005-2011; 2013) the NBC adaptation of the British series by Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant. Carell was also an occasional producer, writer, and director. Carell has received many awards for his performance in television and film, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Television Series Musical or Comedy for his role in The Office. Life magazine named him America's Funniest man. He also gained recognition for his work as a correspondent on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart between 1999 and 2005. He was the main character in many comedy films that included Anchorman, The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), its 2013 sequel, The 40-Year Old Virgin (2005), Evan Almighty (2007), Get Smart (2008), Date Night (2009), Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), The Way, Way Back (2013). He also voiced the characters in Over the Hedge (2006), Horton Hears a Who! (2008) and the Despicable Me franchise (2010-present).
