On the 13th of November, 2019, the series was created with Michael Landes, Brooklyn Sudano and Harley Quinn Smith. On the 13th of November, 2019, Olivia Holt, Brooklyn Sudano and Harley Quinn Smith Chiara Aurelia Mika Abdalla Froy Gutierrez, Blake Lee, Allius Barstow Nathaniel Ashton, and Michael Landes were all cast as characters in the series. Sarah Drew was then added to the roster as a regular part. Then, on the 11th of March in 2021, Barrett Carnahan, Andrea Anders., Benjamin J. Cain and Nicole Bilderback were also given the role of recurring. Most recently, on April 21st, 2022 Sadie Stanley, Eloise Payet, Griffin Gluck, Kadee Strickland Lisa Yamada a Sean Blakemore joined the series while Paul Adelstein scripted a in a recasting adaptation for the second season. On May 6, 2022, Braeden De La Garza, Nile Bullock, and Jenna Lamb were cast for Cruel Summer season 2.Cruel Summer season 2 will introduce an entirely new timeline, set and cast members as well as ending Skyline and the first season. It's not known if any of the characters from the first season will be made a comeback.
