 Dave Portnoy, also known as "El Presidente" or "Stool Presidente" is one of the most controversial figures in the world of sports media and digital media as a whole. As the founder of Barstool Sports, he has virtually revolutionized the way sports are covered today. Dave has built an empire that includes numerous websites, podcasts, and merchandise. Dave is also well-known for his determination to never give up the fight. He started a twitter battle with Congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio Cortez a few months back. Many reporters were upset have been adamant about Portnoy and Barstool in general. The haters will be dumbfounded this morning. It was reported earlier in the day that Penn National Gaming Company had purchased 36% of Barstool, which is worth $450 million. Penn National will pay $163million in cash today. The Penn National is set to pay $163 million today in cash. They are able to invest $62 million over three years in order to increase their stake to 50%. This is not Barstool’s first major transaction. In January the Chernin Group paid $10-15 million for 60% stake and a 25 million stake in Barstool. After today's transaction, Penn National and Chernin will each have 36% stakes.
