 Meles Zenawi's net worth: Meles Zenawi was an Ethiopian politician and businessman who had a fortune of around $3 billion. Meles Zenawi was a former Prime Minister of Ethiopia. Before becoming the first premier of his home country, Zenawi was the president Ethiopia during the nineties (from 1991-1995). He also served as chairman of Tigrayan People's Liberation Front (TPLF) and also the head of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) in the eighties. In 1995, he was elected Prime Minister of Ethiopia from 1995 (until his death in August 2012) Zenawi was described as one Africa's strongmen who introduced the multi-party system of government, a private press in the country and reducing child mortality rates. He was also heavily involved in the US' War on Terror, helping to eliminate organizations that were deemed to be military, such as Al Qaeda. Zenawi was also praised for his efforts to establish relations with the African Union. He played significant roles in helping to improve Africa's position in relation to climate change. However his leadership came in for serious criticism, since he was accused of abusing a string of human rights issues , and depriving the right of press/speech.
