Carrie Marie Underwood (born March 10 in 1983) is an American country artist. She gained fame after winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. She was the first artist from the country music industry to make it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts and the only solo artist to reach the number one spot on the Hot 100 in 2000s. Some Hearts, her debut album, was supported by the crossover singles "Jesus Take the Wheel", as well as "Before He Cheats", making it the most successful debut album of a solo female in country music's history. The album earned her three Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist. The album that followed, Carnival Ride (2007) featured one of the largest opening weeks of all time by a female artist and received two Grammy Awards. Her third studio album entitled Play On (2009) was preceded by the single "Cowboy Casanova" that had one of the largest single-week increases in the Hot 100.
