 Jeff Bezos is an American philanthropist, businessman and space explorer who is likely most famous for establishing Amazon.com. Jeff Bezos, the founder, chief executive officer and president of Amazon.com and the chairman of the company's board. In July 2017, he became the most successful person on earth surpassing Bill Gates for the first time. He was the richest person on earth for a period of time, uninterrupted from October 2017 until January 2021.According to Amazon's most recent SEC report, Jeff owns 55 million shares of Amazon which is roughly 12% of the total shares outstanding. At the time of his peak, the company owned the equivalent of 80 million shares in Amazon. In the April 2019 divorce settlement with MacKenzie Bezos, Jeff transferred 19.7 million shares to his ex-wife. At the date of the transfer the shares were worth 36 billion dollars. Jeff's net worth sank from $150 billion to $114 billion following the settlement. Jeff was also a pre-IPO investor in Google.com and owns at least $1 billion worth of shares of what is now referred to as Alphabet Inc.This was before his divorce so he still owned 80 million shares. Based on that estimate Jeff's net worth reached the record of $170 billion.
