LaMelo LaFrance (born on the 22nd of August, 2001) LaMelo LaFrance (born August 22, 2001) is an American professional basketball player who plays with the Charlotte Hornets (NBA). The Hornets picked him as the third overall selection during the 2020 NBA draft. Ball was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2021. He was named an NBA All-Star the following season in 2022.Ball began his high school career at Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California, where he won the state championship and had national recognition in his freshman year with his two older brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo. Before his junior season the dispute with his coach prompted him to leave Chino Hills and sign with Lithuanian professional team Prienai. He was a part of the Junior Basketball Association in 2018 that was founded by his father. The following year his return to high school and was an senior at SPIRE Academy in Geneva. Ball was a five star player who committed to UCLA. However the issue of eligibility made him join the Illawarra Hawks in the National Basketball League (NBL). He enjoyed a meteoric rise there. Ball was ridiculed by scouts prior to his debut they feared the player would not be allowed to play in the NBA.
